Since the book, The History and Stories of Clyde River was released, we have received interesting tidbits of information that add to the interest in the area and the history. The tin plate (number) used by the MacNeill family as an identifier to ship barrels of smelts from Clyde River to New York validates just how plentiful smelts were in Clyde River in years past. Also from the MacNeill collection is a photo of the Bannockburn Road when there was a curve in the road and a road bridge close to the Dixon property validating just how powerful the flow of water was during the time when the Bannockburn Mills were operational. This picture will be of interest to residents of the area and a copy will be available at the Riverview Community Centre in the near future. Stay tuned for more interesting facts as memories are triggered by the new book.
