Clyde River is displayed in all its beauty in Google Maps Street View for you to enjoy. Just go to Google Maps and search Clyde River, Prince Edward Island, click on the red marker and select the streetview photo, and you can travel along our roads and enjoy our community. The tour begins at Murchison Park. Having just published our history book, wouldn’t it have been good to see what the community looked like a century ago in full colour. It was so lovely to see that the school my mom went to has been preserved. My mom was Viola MacKinnon. I’m trying to find out how to get a copy of this book.

A friend was kind enough to send me a copy of your book. It’s wonderful and I’m most certain a great deal of time and effort went into it. In the event it’s revised at any time – may I offer the following. Page 49; Item 9. My grandmother’s name was Eleanor (married Neil MacKinnon). They had 3 sons: Thomas, John Craig and Kennison and 4 daughters: Edna, Violet, Viola and Tena.

Thank you for your interest in the Clyde River history book. Clyde River connections run deep, that’s for sure. We, the committee, are collecting all input and corrections and they will be used – either with a second printing and/or posted on this blog and put in paper copy for those who have purchased the book. We tried not to make mistakes, but I guess it is inevitable. We appreciate your input. We did talk to John MacKinnon for the Kennison MacKinnon section but, of course, it was more difficult to get details on those families that do not have direct descendents in the community. I have already added your changes to our list.

I don’t know much about my family tree as I am just starting my search, but my great-grandfather was Thomas Hubert MacKinnon, Kennison’s brother.
I don’t know much about how my grandfather Elmer MacKinnon came to own his land on the upper meadow bank rd, but I do know that it is still in my family (for the most part) today. One of my aunts is in fact living there today, and my father owns a wood lot.
