Dr. Edward Edmonds
Dr. Edward Edmonds died this week at the age of 95 yrs. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Murray) and dear father of Iain and Kirsty.
Dr. Edward Edmonds, a well known educator, was a former resident of Clyde River. He loved learning, literature, and history and this community has benefited from this interest. As a Councillor with the Clyde River Community Council, Dr. Edmonds took the leadership that resulted in the commissioning of an official coat-of-arms for the community of Clyde River.
On November 18, 1994, at the Riverview Community Centre, Hon. Marion Reid, then PEI’s Lieutenant Governor, unveiled Clyde River’s official Coat of Arms. Thanks to Dr. Edmonds’ hours of work and research, Clyde River was the first PEI community to have its own authentic Coat-of-Arms. Many years later, this coat of arms and corresponding information are proudly displayed on the wall in the Community Centre.
