Over 30 entertainers performed jazz, folk, choral and rock music along with step and highland dancing. There was indeed something for everyone at Concert in the Park this past Sunday evening, and a spectacular evening it was. Maybe it was hot on your back deck, but under the trees in Murchison Place Park, the temperature was just right for the entire evening. At least 100 people came out for the event, from newborns to those in their 90s. It was great to see so many families, and children were busy having fun in the playground just behind the audience. Throughout the evening, door prizes were given out.
Organizing these concerts is a tremendous amount of work, and we thank Lisa McQuaid Ross for taking the lead, supported by her group of volunteers. And thanks to Ellen Ross, our summer student, for all the great work she did in rebuilding the flower beds within the park; that was a large job for her which she was keen to have ready for the concert and it looks wonderful! Also, thanks to the concert sponsor, Hilltop Construction. The host organization was Friends of Clyde River, a group that supports special community projects such as events to build community spirit, historical education, park maintenance and website communications.
The community has certainly embraced this beautiful park and we thank each and every one of you for attending.
Stay tuned for details on our next event, Art in the Park, which will take place on Saturday, August 10th, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
