Berrigan’s Store Inventory – 1919-1922

Further to our earlier story on Berrigan’s Store, I have gone through one of their record books from July 1919 to April 1922 and compiled a list of unique items sold to customers in the surrounding area. Many times throughout the record book, it refers to purchases as “groceries, dry goods or goods”, but you can view the list of almost 300 unique items that were recorded. They also mention the receipt of shipments from George H. Toombs and DeBlois Brothers and the names of the schooners that transported the goods from Charlottetown e.g. Swan, Olive J., Ella May, Village Leaf and Senator. It is amusing to see completely unrelated things that customers purchased on any given trip; however, tobacco was the most popular item by far.
