The Municipality of Clyde River was incorporated in 1974 and has a population of 653. It was originally called Dog River and in 1864, it was changed to Clyde River.

- The community has three cemeteries:
- The early Baptist Pioneer Cemetery is down by the river – you can view photos of headstones and stories of those buried in the cemetery in this story here.
- The Baptist Church and newer cemetery is on the Clyde River Road beside the Riverview Community Centre. To read about stories and events, click here.
- The Burnside Presbyterian Church Cemetery is beside the church on the corner of the Trans Canada Highway and Clyde River Road. The church was built in 1856. To read about stories and events, click here.
The community is very active in history work which is organized by the Clyde River History Committee. Activities include:
- Contributing history stories to website – Over 400 stories have been contributed in the past 10 years. Click here to view them.
- Since 2012, they have hosted an annual Clyde River Lecture Series in January and February. To read about the lectures series and who was featured, please click here.
- In 2014, they undertook a project called “Capturing Collective Memories” and digitized almost 2000 heritage photos from family albums and collected artifacts. Click here to read stories about the project.
- The Committee manages a museum of over 100 select historical photographs from our collection and over 200 artifacts downstairs in the Riverview Community Centre. To view artifacts in our collection, please click here.
