Interesting Pictures on the Rivers
The top picture was taken on the beautiful Bonshaw River and the boat shown in the picture is the same boat that is seen crossing through the drawbridge at Dunedin. Looking closely one can see that the ladies in the boat are dressed up and one might assume they were in their “Sunday-go-to- meeting” attire. If anyone views these scenes and knows the history of this boat, please leave a comment. Meanwhile, those who are familiar with this area will appreciate the photographs. The year these photographs were taken is not known. The bridge at Dunedin was built in 1881 so it was some time after that. It is possible the boat/ship is the City of London, a passenger boat that served the area around 1900. These pictures may even have been taken on the same day. The pictures came from Sally Ross’s collection and she would welcome any information.
