LEAP for art – Clyde River offers another art class
LEAP -The Learning Elders Art Program is a joint program offered by the Provincial Government, Department of Tourism and Culture, and the PEI Seniors Citizen’s Federation. For the third year in a row, the Clyde River Women’s Institute has partnered with these two groups and the Riverview Community Centre will be the setting for art classes. It is a creative way for seniors to enjoy the winter months and develop their artistic ability while having fun and enjoying friendships. There is no cost to the participants for this program and all supplies are covered. Those who participated in this program before will confirm that Julia Purcell, the artist, is a terrific teacher.
Local artist Julia Purcell will teach the 2011 program beginning on Saturday January 8th at 9 a.m. There will not be any class on January 15th and there will be a Saturday in February where there will not be a class so essentially there will be three classes in the months of January, February, and March with an Open House the first week of April to display the creative results.
As in past years, Clyde River residents are given first priority, and after the 15th of December, any spaces that are left will be opened up to seniors in surrounding communities. To register, please phone Julia Purcell directly at 368-7526 or Emily Bryant at 675-4203
